Our Good Night’s Sleep Campaign: World of Sleep Day

At Black Sheep Mattress, we believe that better rest has the power to support overall well-being, meaning everyone deserves the comfort of a good night’s sleep.
In honour of World Sleep Day on March 13th, we brought back our Good Night’s Sleep Campaign for a second time. Last fall, we launched the initiative by donating 100 pillows to four Calgary non-profit organizations: The Children’s Cottage Society, Discovery House, Inn From the Cold, and Trellis Society. In March, we continued this work by crafting and distributing 75 pillows to three local charities doing meaningful work in our community. The Calgary Dream Centre, Seniors Secret Service, and Made by Momma were in our more recent drop-offs, each reminding us that these donations can make a real difference, especially during times of recovery, transition, and care.
We care deeply about quality, thoughtful craftsmanship, and creating products that do good for both people and the planet. Campaigns like this one are an extension of that commitment. They allow us to put our work into the hands of organizations that are supporting Calgarians in tangible, compassionate ways, while reinforcing our belief that sleep is deeply connected to health, dignity, and overall quality of life. Take a moment to learn more about the organizations we visited this spring.
Calgary Dream Centre
Our first stop was Calgary Dream Centre, an organization that provides pathways to recovery through housing, supportive programs, and community. With a dedicated team and a mission rooted in hope, freedom, and purpose, the Centre helps individuals build lasting change in their lives while staying connected to a strong support network. Here, we saw firsthand the excitement that comes with receiving new pillows - in organizations like these, they go quickly but are cherished! It means a great deal to know these pillows will offer comfort and rest to individuals as they move forward in their new chapter.

Seniors Secret Service
The second stop in our donation run was Seniors Secret Service, a local organization committed to ensuring that no senior feels forgotten. With the help of a small but deeply caring team of staff and volunteers, they bring companionship, support, and joy to isolated older adults across Calgary. We learned that one of their biggest campaign windows arrives just before Christmas with their Christmas Cheer Program, and that they fill an entire warehouse full of gift boxes for seniors across Alberta.
Our donation of natural latex pillows will help bring added comfort to independent living seniors who need both quality rest and the reassurance that their community cares for them. Sleep plays an important role at every stage of life, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support them in achieving more restful sleep.
Made by Momma
Our final stop was Made by Momma, a Calgary-based organization that supports families navigating adversity and crisis. Through healthy meals, baby essentials, in-home visits, and practical care, they show up for families when support is needed most. Our donation of pillows will go toward their My New Bed program, which provides beds and bedding to families moving out of shelters and couch-surfing situations. Having a safe and comfortable place to land matters, and we are proud to be contributing to a program that helps families settle into their homes, making it feel like an extension of themselves.

Over the last year, our Good Night’s Sleep Campaign has been one of our greatest accomplishments. We feel grateful to be able to support organizations that are doing such valuable work across Calgary, and we hope to keep finding ways to share comfort with our community moving forward.
If you ever have recommendations for a non-profit or charity that we should donate to for our next drop-off, send us a note. We always want to hear from you!
